BELLOWS FALLS, VT & KEENE, NH (June 25, 2013)- Sovernet Communications (“Sovernet”) and Keene, New Hampshire FastRoads (“FASTROADS”) today finalized a Network Access Agreement bringing a well-established service provider in to the New Hampshire FastRoads project and placing Sovernet in a position to further expand its fiber service offerings across the border into the State of New Hampshire . The Agreements will allow Sovernet to utilize FASTROADS’ new fiber-optic communications network to provide Internet access and data transport services at speeds as high as 1 Gigabits per second to the 237 community anchor within the footprint of the FASTROADS project in Cheshire, Sullivan, and Grafton counties of New Hampshire. Sovernet is currently delivering fiber based services at similar speeds in Vermont.

FASTROADS is currently in the final stages of building 247 miles of new fiber optics across 34 New Hampshire communities and is part of Network New Hampshire Now, a consortium of public institutions led by the University of New Hampshire that received a combined $44.5 million NTIA grant to bring internet connectivity to all ten counties in New Hampshire. The organizers of FASTROADS have chosen to operate the network on a wholesale open access model, not offering retail service directly to customers, but rather providing network access to broadband service providers. NH FastRoads is the only project with “last mile” connections of fiber directly to the premises of both residences and businesses. Fiber optic technology offers unsurpassed speed and quality of service with the ability to deliver internet broadband, clear voice over IP telephone service, video conferencing and high definition digital programming.
